Australian Steelworks

DEV.
Hybrid feature documentary, photo series

Australian Steelworks is a hybrid film and photographic work co-created with the community of Whyalla examining the closure of the town’s steelworks. A work made through observation and participatory reenactment, that explores through this Australian manifestation of the ‘company town’, the possibility that industrial labour in Australia may have become to some settler communities, an improvised space for displaced needs for ritual, belonging, and initiation.
